Volunteers are an important part of our team
ACES has some fabulous volunteers – people who have helped out for years because they find it so enjoyable and rewarding.
The key areas where volunteers are needed are administration and driving /transport. Volunteers also take care of the lawns and other property maintenance tasks and maintaining the vegetable gardens we use to provide produce for cooking and meal preparation classes.
Volunteers also assist with:
• sports and games
• Sailability / Riding for the Disabled / Landcare
• music and drama programs
• community projects, outings & events
• arts and crafts
• catering, meal preparation and more.
We are always looking out for new volunteers to share their skills.
This is a great way to expand what’s on offer and add new and interesting activities.
As volunteers know, many hands make light work!

Typically, people who register their interest in volunteering are invited to meet with a staff to discuss their interests and abilities and to explore opportunities. With everyone’s agreement, a role is then developed to match the volunteer’s interests, strengths and skills.
Background checking is routinely used to screen potential volunteers for suitability. The types of checks or screening will depend on the role and whether it involves financial, driving or other important responsibilities.
