Kitchen wiz – making coffees and making a difference
Port Macquarie’s Hope Shop Café, in partnership with ACES, is providing a workplace where Leigh Dowzard and other people with a disability, can take up work opportunities and add fulfilment and independence to their lives. Read more (pdf).
Learning partnership produces unique outcomes
ACES’ partnership with SkillsLink Training (formerly Port Macquarie Community College) has resulted in the development of unique training opportunities. In many cases these supply the stepping stones required to get people from where they are, to where they want to be. Read more (pdf).
Carers raise awareness on the political stage
Members of the Port Macquarie Carers Group have been praised for their work to raise awareness about the challenge carers face. Their Carer Profile Project features a snapshot of the lives of 16 carers in the Port Macquarie area.
